hal.dll Blue Screen Errors (BSOD) SOLVED

Here I am again!

I had a few Blue Screens after setting up my brand new i7 pc. It was day one, since i left Windows 98/ME that I've seen this color on my monitor! The error was 0x00000024. With a little free utility called Blue Screen View, you can read the logs of the errors. They are by default placed at "C:\Windows\Minidump" folder.




If you get similar errors to this, read on!

People suggested inserting Windows 7 installation disk and make a repair, update BIOS, all drivers, remove older versions of drivers, others were pointing to HDD MBR, maybe RAID 0 could be a problem etc... You see the panic in my eyes! 8)

The reason was RAM!!! Not faulty RAM, but bad setup. I have a triple set of Transcend memories, XMP ready (mark this)!

When you set it through BIOS to XMP profile, this causes instability due to OC issues. RAM in default motherboards (Gigabyte X58A-UD7) settings, are working @ around 1000MHz, half of the speed they are made for! In default settings, no Blue Screens happen at all, no matter how much you push it to the limit.

The workaround is to set the latencies of the RAM manually and push a little bit the QPI. DO NOT DO IT BY YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR with the procedure! Can't give a hint on settings, depends on memories, motherboard and CPU. The "rule" is about 1.5-165V for RAM and around 1.25-1.35V for the QPI. Boosting QPI more, will damage the memory controller!

Many people give values more that 2V for the memories, but that's... Extreme Overclocking!
